Simplify the Morning and Night Routines

Morning routine

One of the most rewarding changes in my life was finding tranquility with a morning routine. Getting up early , getting up before most people, enjoying the silence and calm of the morning, has become a habit for me.

And this has been very important.

Of course, not everyone likes to get up early, but this does not mean you cannot create your own routine.

With a well-planned morning routine it can be a powerful tool to transform your life.

 Ideas for the morning routine

These are just ideas to help you get started. I advise you to keep simplicity in your routine, and to include something that offers you loneliness, silence or allows you to release stress.

Test your routine for a few days and make the adjustments you think necessary.

Some ideas for the morning routine are:

  • Watch the sunrise
  • Take an infusion, coffee or tea.
  • Exercise
  • To meditate
  • Read
  • Take a shower or bath
  • Do yoga or taichi
  • to write
  • Prepare breakfast
  • Give thanks for all that you are grateful for
  • Take a walk through nature
  • Review your goals
  • Choose the three most important tasks of the day
  • Have breakfast
  • Keep a diary

Note that the list does not include “view Facebook” or “read email” or any work related activity. I suggest you wait until after your morning routine to start with this kind of thing.

 My morning routine

September is usually the month in which I adjust my routines. This month I started with this morning routine, which has slight modifications with respect to my previous routine, and at the moment I am doing very well:

  1. Wake up at 5:30 a.m.
  2. Drink a glass of water or juice.
  3. Write (for my blog, some collaboration, in my book …) or read.
  4. Going out for 20 minutes of exercise, usually by bicycle.
  5. Prepare breakfast and lunch mid-morning, for me and my children.
  6. Wake up my children at 7:20 a.m. Have breakfast together talking. Help the little one to get dressed.
  7. Take a shower.
  8. Take my children to school.
  9. Go to work.

 The night routine

Establishing a calming routine at nightfall allows me to prepare for the next day, relax before bed and sleep well.

 Ideas for the night routine

Choose some of the following activities for the nighttime routine, or add your own ideas:

  • Make the dinner
  • to write
  • To meditate
  • Dinner
  • Take a shower or bath
  • Brushing teeth
  • Keep a diary
  • Read
  • Exercise
  • Read a story to the children
  • Get a facial
  • Tidy up the house
  • Talk to your partner
  • Plan the next day
  • Take a relaxing infusion
  • Prepare clothes and / or food for the next day

In the routine of the night it is very important that the activities are quiet , to get a restful sleep. I do not recommend watching television, or doing something related to work or finances, or watching social networks, or discussing conflicting issues with your partner.

My night routine

Also this month I modified my night routine somewhat, adjusting it to:

  1. Have dinner together as a family, talking.
  2. Bed the children.
  3. Prepare the clothes for the next day, mine and my children’s.
  4. Plan the next day.
  5. Take a relaxing infusion.
  6. Lay me down
  7. Meditate and do Reiki (about 20 minutes).
  8. Read or talk with my partner.
  9. Sleep about 11 p.m.

Establishing a routine in the morning and another at night may seem easy, but abandoning them is just as easy. That’s why the important thing is to make them a habit , focusing on it for a while, making it rewarding and keeping track of your progress.
